Medical treatment and aid
Medical treatment for villagers is often provided by mobile clinics. Groups such as the Carmellite Sisters in Maubara do mobile clinics and visit villages every few weeks. Medicines are prescribed and distributed as necessary by trained nurses, as there is a shortage of qualified doctors. In July 2000 a day trip consisted of a medical clinic in the village of Vatuvoro in Maubara, followed by an aid distribution in the nearby village of Tampananulu.
Pictures here are from the villages of Tampananulu and Vatuvoro.
Grateful thanks to the students and staff of Riverview College in Sydney for holding a fete and raising money to pay for this food aid and other aid in East Timor
